Background: Annie Get Your Gun is a 1946 musical with lyrics and music by Irving Berlin from a book by Herbert and Dorothy Fields. The story is a fictionalised version of the life of Annie Oakley (1860-1926), who was a sharpshooter from Ohio, and her husband, Frank Butler. The 1946 Broadway production was a hit, and the show had long runs in both New York and London. This Abbey Road Studios production was made in 1990. Two years later Kim Criswell was to head a London West End revival at the Prince of Wales Theatre. |
