Background: Whenever a beloved artist dies tragically young it is natural that all her recordings be researched, found and, where possible, made available to the widest possible public. We are fortunate that the BBC kept the recordings Jacqueline du Pré made for them in her early performing years, 1961-65. The music ranges from the Baroque to the 20th century and features fellow musicians Stephen Kovacevich and Ernest Lush as accompanists as well as her teacher William Pleeth. |
