Background: Ernest John Moeran lived in Norfolk for many years and retired to Ireland where he died in 1950. His early work was influenced by folk song and Delius, though his major work, the Symphony in G minor which features here, is often wracked with gloom and despair. The recording of the Violin sonata appears for the first time on CD.
