Background: This is Martha Argerich's first-ever recording of the Triple Concerto. The performance, in which she is joined by regular collaborators and friends Renaud Capuçon and Mischa Maisky, was recorded live at the Lugano Festival in June 2003. Argerich herself was so pleased with it that she asked EMI to issue it alongside an exciting Schumann concerto she had recorded at Lugano a year earlier. Argerich is accompanied on both these works by the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana conducted by Alexandre Rabinovitch. The intimacy of the surroundings at the Lugano Festival plus the spontaneous and committed music-making of all involved make this a highly recommended disc. |

- Penguin Guide 3 star 'the great cello melody which opens the slow movement is the more moving for its restraint, with the most delicate tonal shading, while the outer movements have a rare vitatlity.' |
