Background: Carmen is arguably the most famous opera ever written. This magnificent recording, featuring a superb all-star cast including Angela Gheorghiu and Roberto Alagna, uses the authoritative version which contains sung recitatives. Included is an aria written for the opera by Bizet but never performed.

The aria uses the same text as the famous Habanera, but has a completely different musical setting. The aria was only recently discovered in the archives of Choudens the French publisher.
