Background: These contemporary choral works were recorded last July in Toulouse with the choir Les Eléments under the direction of its musical director Joël Suhubiette. The choir’s main mission is to perform 20th-century music a cappella or with a small instrumental ensemble.

Born in Rome in 1948, Philippe Hersant studied composition with André Jolivet at the Paris Conservatoire, where he won prizes in harmony and counterpoint. His catalogue comprises approximately 30 works, most of which have been commissions from, among others, Radio France and the French Ministry of Culture. He has also written numerous incidental scores and film soundtracks.
