Background: Butterflies, Dreams and Rhymes is a children’s fantasy song cycle, mixing live action and animation with a child’s voyage of discovery through a gallery of paintings. The magical journey is accompanied by special musical arrangements of traditional nursery rhymes and folk songs, all performed by the Nash Ensemble. The music is arranged and conducted by Jim Parker. The central character is a young American girl, Kip, on holiday in Scotland where she visits an old castle to view a collection of paintings. A magic butterfly appears and leads Kip and her friends from painting to painting singing songs relevant to the pictures they visit. |
