In his lifetime Bruckner loved Munich because his symphonies were so well received by the audience there. In 1935 his Fifth Symphony was premiered by the Munich Philharmonic in its original version. And fifty years later, in 1985, the legendary conductor Sergiu Celibidache not only inaugurated the Munich Philharmonic Hall with Bruckner's Fifth but also laid the ground for his world-famous interpretations of Bruckner's works.
