Background: In July & August 2004, Sir John Eliot Gardiner was retracing, mostly on foot, the path of past French pilgrims who travelled from the French / Spanish border to the holy city of Santiago to the place where the remains of St James were laid to rest. After each day, the choir would perform in one of the beautiful churches along the route. A truly physical and spiritual journey that added context to the music performed. |
