Background: A classic recording of Donizetti's two-act comic opera with Carreras and Ricciarelli on top form. Not available for some time now this makes for outstanding value as a Philips Duo release. Donizetti's popular opera has a libretto by Romani who in turn based this on Scribe's Le Philtre. It was first given in Milan in 1832.
