Background: These legendary recordings were made over the entire course of Solti’s career with Decca (almost 50 years!) and boast some of the finest Wagnerian performances ever committed to disc. All the titles have been re-mastered except Lohengrin and Die Meistersinger, which were already digital recordings.

All, except Die Meistersinger use the artwork from the original LP covers.

Each of the operas is packaged in a slipcase with full libretto and translations. A unique feature of the limited edition presentation box is the inclusion for the first time ever on CD of The Birth of an Opera. This exclusive recording is a fascinating insight into the rehearsals for Solti’s Tristan und Isolde and was originally included in the LP set of the opera. This bonus disc is only available as part of the limited edition boxed set.
