Composer:
Anton Bruckner

Conductor:
Bernard Haitink

Background: This is what you get when you put together one of the best orchestras in the world with one of the best Bruckner conductors. Bernard Haitink has been overwhelmed with positive feedback on his Bruckner cycle with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. These two symphonies are taken from that cycle.

The Third Symphony is one of Bruckner’s more conservative symphonies but soon after listening to that brass outburst in the beginning of the opening movement one instantly recognises the overwhelming symphonic grandeur in such superb quality of recorded sound.

The Eighth Symphony is one of Bruckner’s most popular. It contains one of the most magical slow movements ever written. Both symphonies are recorded in full digital sound.
