Composer:
Johannes Brahms

Artist(s):
Julius Katchen

Conductor:
Pierre Monteux

Background: Brahms was one of Julius Katchen's specialities. The two Brahms concertos were recorded, respectively, with Pierre Monteux and János Ferencsik and Katchen engulfs their every challenge wholeheartedly. As couplings we have two Schumann perennials - one of the most lyrical accounts of the Schumann Concerto (with Kertész) in stereo and the great C major Fantasie, op.17 recorded in mono.
