Background: Peter Maag loved Cosė fan tutte more than any other opera, and his greatest desire was to record it, but for one reason or another he had never managed to realise this project. The illness that afflicted him in the last months of his life prevented him from realising this dream that he had already planned with Arts. This document of Radio Italiana, recorded in Rome on 13th June 1967 takes on a celebratory significance for a great conductor of proven faith and esteemed Mozart familiarity. Peter Maag offers us this recording of a reading of Cosė fan tutte, which combines a dense feeling of theatrical presence with moments of exquisite tenderness and of astonishing vocal delight. |
