Background: Brahms revived chamber music after the death of Schumann and defined it for the later 19th century. For this recording his final group of chamber works, originally written for clarinet, have been transcribed for flute. Friedrich de la Fouqué's story 'Undine' was published in 1811 and inspired Carl Reinecke's Flute sonata, written in 1882. |
