Background: Ferde Grofe is best known as the arranger for the Paul Whiteman band and it was in this capacity that he became the man to orchestrate Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. He was, however, a composer of no mean accomplishment, with the Grand Canyon Suite being his best-known composition. On this album we have two more of Grofé's many orchestral suites depicting famous American geographical features.
