Leonard Bernstein began his career as a conductor in Tanglewood in 1940 as a pupil of Sergey Koussevitzky. We encounter him conducting Brahms's Second and Fourth Symphonies in 1972, bringing to them all the passion and musical commitment for which he was so famous.
