Background: The music of the quintessentially Czech composer Dvorák is a perennial favourite in the Romantic repertoire. Jirí Belohlávek studied conducting with Sergiu Celibidache. Since 1995 he has been associated with the BBC Syumphony Orchestra, conducting the first and last Nights of the Proms in 2007. Ivan Zenaty has long held a leading position among Czech violinists. He was awarded the title Laureate of the International Tribune of Young Performers UNESCO in 1989, and has been professor at the Music Academy in Dresden since 1996. |
